Here at Green RV, we often get asked, “What do we do to keep our caravan safe and in good condition while we’re not using it?”
Well, we asked one of our caravan experts, Brandan, and he has helped to put together a simple 5-step guide to keep your pride and joy safe, sound and ready to go!
Here are Brandan’s top tips for keeping your caravan in tip-top shape during the off-season:
1. Keep the batteries topped up
We’ve all been there! We come back to our caravan when we’re ready for an adventure, only to find the batteries have died. To avoid this, simply charge regularly which will ensure that they’re good to go at any moment.
2. Keep your caravan out of the weather
Nothing dampens the mood like a dirty, wet caravan! Keep it under cover and out of the weather and you will have a nice, fresh caravan to come back to. If you don’t have a garage or cover to put it under, you can always protect it with a caravan cover, or even a nice large tarp or two.
3. Park on level ground
Keeping your caravan level will mean that everything will stay put and steady where you expect it to be. You don’t want any surprises next time you go into the pantry and it’s all turned upside down!
4. Empty the water tanks
If you’re storing your caravan for an extended period, it always pays to empty the water tanks. Simple fill with fresh water before you take to the road and you’re right to go.
5. Empty any grey or black water
This one goes without saying, but we’re going to say it anyway! Save any bad smells or sanitary issues by emptying your grey/black water before putting your caravan to bed. Trust us, you will thank yourself later!
